All The Journey’s I Never Took
I worked alongside director Raquel Meseguer- (Place Prize winner and co-founder of award-winning dance company Lost Dog) on 'All The Journeys I Never Took.' Funded by the Arts Council UK and produced by Dr. Lucy English, this was a nationwide touring one-woman immersive poetry show, delivered to one or two audience members at a time.
The show was performed in a car, for twenty-minute intervals. With the cityscape framed, the audience became a voyeur to the bustle around. A personal story that explored what it is like to leave behind the middleman and discover our place in the world. A space that echoes with unravelling journeys, break ups, first dates, family, confidences. Both political and personal, yet motivated by inclusion, empowerment, and celebration, we asked the audience to take an active role. We muttered poems of love, of loss, of the human. The city provided our actors and backdrop. The everyday was elevated.
